Hi, thanks for visiting my poetry website!

I’m a writer and artist based in Seattle where I have lived for more than 30 years. I was born in Kansas City, and grew up in Pittsburgh and Hartford. Before I moved to Seattle, I lived in China for three years.

A speechwriter by trade, I got my start in TV and radio news, then worked as a freelance print journalist for many years before moving into speechwriting and strategic communications. Speechwriting is an interesting craft and a good profession, but after two decades spent articulating other people’s ideas in their voices, I started to wonder if I had ideas or a voice of my own, so I began experimenting with poetry. In the five or so years since, my poems have appeared in a wide range of publications, including Common Ground Review, Elsewhere Journal, Pangyrus, Pine Hills Review, Poet Lore, Reed Magazine, The Shore, and Watershed.

I’m also a mosaic artist. You can see my work at toddcampbellmosaics.com
